Guidelines for Manuscript Writing

I. Submission Rules for Regular Papers

1. Guidelines for Article Submission

1. 1) Fellows, Members, International Affiliates, or Student Members of ICROS are eligible to submit paper(s).
2. 2) Submission of a manuscript signifies that it has been neither copyrighted nor published elsewhere. The ICROS policy requires that authors, when using their own previously published or submitted material as a basis for a new submission, must cite the previous work(s) and clearly indicate how the new submission differs from the previously published work(s).
3. 3) All submissions to ICROS must be uploaded via our online submission system (http://journal.icros.org). A review fee (40,000 KRW per paper for regular review process and 100,000 KRW per paper for expedited review process) is imposed on all submitted papers. Original papers should be submitted as a single PDF file that includes all figures and tables.
4. 4) Contributors should fill in the submission form for uploading a paper. They may (or may not) recommend up to two reviewers.
5. 5) Papers can be submitted at any time, and the date of receipt is determined to the date at which the paper is submitted via the online submission system.

2. Preparation of a Paper

6. 6) Manuscripts should be prepared in Korean or English. The paper title, the authors' names, abstract and description of figures and tables, however, should be written in both Korean and English.
7. 7) All authors must indicate their affiliation and position. Authors who are minor and do not have a current affiliation must submit their previous affiliation, title/position and last year of enrollment.
8. 8) In the case of an English name, write the first name and then the family name (for example, Kil-Dong Lee and Jae Hyun Kim).
9. 9) Papers should be prepared in the order of title, authors' names, English abstract (100-200 words), key words (up to 8 words), main text, references, and appendices.
10. 10) The section number and the subsection number should be written in Roman numerals (I, II, III, IV, …) and in Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, …), respectively.
11. 11) Upper and lower cases of the English text should be distinguished as shown in the following examples:
    • In the case of abbreviations and acronyms followed by the corresponding full words in brackets, the acronym of each word should be written in upper case and the rest of the letters of the word in lower case.
      Ex) LTI (Linear Time Invariant)
    • In the case of Korean words followed by the corresponding English words in brackets, all letters shall be written in lower case.
      Ex) 안정도 여유 (stability margin)
    • All English letters in the main text should be written in lower case, except for the first letter of a proper noun and a sentence.
12. 12) Figures and tables should be indicated as Fig. 1., Fig. 2., Table 1., Table 2., etc. The title of a figure should be written below the figure, and the title of a table should be above the table. Captions should be written in both Korean and English where the subtitles of figures and tables (e.g. (a) and (b)) should be written only in English.
13. 13) Equations should be provided and numbered sequentially in the manuscript. They should be referred in the main text (e.g., "substituting (1) into (2)," …).
14. 14) The preferred format of figure files is JPG or GIF. Other formats should be converted to JPG or GIF before inserted in the main text.
15. 15) All references should be written only in English and numbered sequentially as examples below:
    • (1) Quotation from a Korean/English paper:

16. 16) Each reference should be individually numbered and referred in square brackets (e.g., [1]).

3. Expedited Review Request

17. 17) The review and publication procedure of a paper requested for an expedited review are proceeded rapidly following the internal rules.
18. 18) The expeditedly reviewed paper can be published in the upcoming issue if there is an agreement from the Editorial Board.
19. 19) Papers originally submitted as general papers can be requested for an expedited review during the review process.

4. Others

20. 20) The acceptance of a submitted paper is finally determined by the Editorial Board based on the review results through a peer-review process.
21. 21) The copyrights of papers published in the Journal of ICROS will belong to ICROS. Authors may use their papers published in an ICROS journal without any restriction.
22. 22) The authors must follow the Research Ethics Regulation. For the policies on the research and publication ethics not stated in this instruction, the international standards for editors and authors (http://publicationethics.org/international-standards-editors-and-authors) are applied.
23. 23) If a paper gets the publishing agreement, the authors should prepare a camera-ready paper according to the format specified by ICROS and submit the final version online.
24. 24) In principle, papers should be published in the order in which they are received after acceptance through the review process.
25. 25) The paper publication fee is 30,000 KRW (per page) for a regular paper up to 6 pages. If a paper needs 7 pages or more, the publication fee is 50,000 KRW for each of the additional pages. In the case of an expedited publication, the publication fee is 50,000 KRW (per page) up to 6 pages and is 80,000 KRW for each of the additional pages after the 6 pages. If an acknowledgement is included in the paper, an additional publication fee of 100,000 KRW will be charged.

II. Submission Rules for Technical Papers

1. 1) Papers to be submitted shall be the result of original and creative research on the design, implementation and operation of systems for the development of industrial technologies in the field of control, automation and system engineering. They must have never been presented in any domestic or overseas journals.
2. 2) Other items in the technical paper submission rules are the same as the Submission Rules for Regular Papers.

III. Submission Rules for Short Papers

1. 1) A paper related to a new idea and new technology can be requested for a general or an expedited review.
2. 2) A short paper should be no more than four pages based on a printed journal.
3. 3) 100,000 KRW shall be paid as a paper publication fee regardless of the number of pages. If an organization supporting the research is written in the paper, 100,000 KRW shall be paid additionally. (In the case of expedited publication, an expedited publication fee shall be paid.)
4. 4) Other items of the short paper submission rules are the same as the Submission Rules for Regular/Short Papers.
